Factory to return to in-person performances April 2022!
RETURN TO IN-PERSON EVENTS INCLUDES A NEW $0 TICKET OPTION AND SLIDING SCALE PRICES AT EVERY PERFORMANCE
Thrilled to be returning to in-person performances for the first time since March 2020, FACTORY THEATRE is announcing that tickets for two upcoming productions will be on sale Tuesday March 1, 2022 at 9AM EST. In-person performances will resume at Factory in April 2022 with the World Premiere production of David Yee’s among men, directed by Nina Lee Aquino, followed by the Toronto Premiere of Wildfire in May 2022, translated by Leanna Brodie from the play Le Brasier by David Paquet, and directed by Soheil Parsa.
With the return to in-person performances, FACTORY is also excited to announce a sliding scale ticketing structure which includes an openly-available no-cost ticket option for all FACTORY productions. Following two incredibly successful seasons of entirely free digital programming, this change in structure is aimed at making theatre accessible to all who wish to participate. Tickets will now be offered at a variety of price points ranging from $10 – $75, and including a limited number of $0 tickets for every performance. The $0 ticket is also exempt from all box office surcharges and fees. Audiences are invited to select the ticket price option that works best for them to experience theatre at Factory. All tickets are treated equally no matter which price point they are purchased at.
All in-person shows are being sold at a reduced capacity to allow for social distancing, and Factory continues to require proof of vaccination and mask wearing for all audiences, artists, and staff. Full and up-to-date details on Factory’s COVID-19 safety protocols can be found at factorytheatre.ca/covid.
among men by David Yee is set in 1959, Ameliasburgh, Prince Edward County, Canada. On the edge of spring, two men are finishing an A-frame cabin on Roblin Lake. In the coming decade all three of them – Al, Milt, and the A-frame – will become famous and change the face of Canadian poetry. But now all they have is the stench of sweat, whiskey, and words. among men is a poetic and charged portrait of male friendship in uncertain times, and a story of how Canadian literature was changed forever. This production also marks the 13th World Premiere collaboration between David Yee and director Nina Lee Aquino. Performances run from April 23 – May 15, 2022 in the Factory Mainspace.
Translated by Leanna Brodie from the play Le Brasier by David Paquet, Wildfire follows Claudette, Claudia, Claudine, Carol, Callum, and Caroline who all have two things in common: names that start with the letter C and they’re all haunted by a family history of childhood trauma. They do what they can to survive. Sometimes by baking cookies, sometimes by playing fantasy games, and sometimes by smashing a hammer into a TV. Wildfire is a dark comedy with a spark— highly absurd and ferociously funny, Paquet’s seemingly ordinary characters remind us that sometimes it’s the people we look right past who experience the most extraordinary fates. Performances run from May 28 – June 19, 2022 in the Factory Mainspace.
