Camilo Diaz-Varela

Bio

Camilo Diaz-Varela (they/them) is a first-generation Mexican-Canadian citizen, musician, theatre maker and performer based in Tkaronto, on Dish with One Spoon wampum belt treaty territory. They were born in Kjipuktuk on unceded Mi’kmaq territory (also known as Halifax, Nova Scotia) and is very proud of it. Their weapons of choice are voice, guitar, piano, ukulele, and tuba, paired with divined original music and words. Inspired by Indigenous liberation and anti-capitalist movements currently pulsing all over Turtle Island, they seek to share their gifts with you.

They also make music as part of Rose Knows (roseknows.bandcamp.com) and co-produce + co-host a podcast about culture and social change called MERENDIANDO (www.alunatheatre.ca/category/podcast/).
