Kwaku Okyere

Bio

Kwaku is a Ghanaian-Canadian multidisciplinary theatre artist. He was recently named one of four artists who will make up the 2017/18 Emerging Creators’ Unit at Buddies in Bad Times. He will also be assistant directing Donna-Michelle St. Bernard’s upcoming show, CAKE, under the mentorship of director Clare Preuss at Theatre Passe Muraille. Currently, he is reprising his role as Queer Black Civil Rights Activist Bayard Rustin in Steven Elliot Jackson’s award-winning play The Seat Next to the King, for which he was named an Outstanding Performer in NOW Magazine as part of the 2017 Toronto Fringe Festival.
