Bio
Makram Ayache is a Governor General’s Literary Award finalist and an award-winning playwright, performer, director, and producer. His work amplifies queer Arab voices, bridging political struggles with intimate human experiences. Named a breakthrough artist by the Toronto Star in 2023, his play The Hooves Belonged to the Deer was among the Globe and Mail’s top 10 Ontario productions and won an Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Award. Ayache’s Governor General-nominated play The Green Line was published by Playwrights Canada Press in 2024. Most recently he directed Small Gods the Musical at Theatre Sheridan and Factory Theatre.
