by Susannah Haight
For the first time ever, Factory’s courtyard is hosting a performance from sunset to sunrise as part of Nuit Blanche.
Untitled – Clock Piece unfolds on a minimalist 10×10 wooden stage, surrounded by 60 precisely arranged stones. Each stone acts as a marker, a physical representation of time’s segmentation into hours, minutes and seconds. The movement of dancers on this stage is synchronized with the sound of a ticking clock. Central to this piece is the interplay of movement and light, where one illuminated performer orbits another, casting shadows that visually articulate the cyclical nature of time. This dynamic interaction between dancers, structure and natural elements emphasizes the ideas of time as both a personal experience and a universal continuum that shapes our collective experience. Untitled – Clock Piece invites audiences into a contemplative space where the rush of the event slows to offer a moment of quiet reflection.
